I am mostly a walleye / Mack guy. As mentioned above, I like a deep v. I wouldn't go shorter than 16', because of the Colorado wind.
Things I would look for, depending on your price range.
Rod storage
Upgraded electronics with front and drivers seat sonar. I prefer lowrance.
A good electric motor
A live well that doesn't leak.
Near max HP for the rated boat/motor combo.
If buying from a private seller, check the lower unit for water and ask when the impeller was last changed.
Also, if you are willing to drive there are a ton of boats in Minnesota and Wisconsin which translates to a ton of cheap used boats.
Small Boston Whaler. Will not sink. Will retain value if you don't over pay. Light enough to be towed by most US vehicles. It is a tri-hull and is stable when standing up, fighting fish.
