I've always been a fan of Nikon cameras...until I bought a P610. The zoom is awesome, but the AF sucks. Read/watched great reviews of the Panasonic Lumix FZ1000. It was first introduced about 6 years ago and still receives great reviews. Black Friday special on Amazon and I couldn't resist.

I'm anxious to take it out and play with it. The camera... But gotta wait for the batteries to charge. Maybe tomorrow.

Good choice, that is a GREAT camera! I think you'll love it.

I had it's first edition relative, the FZ10. Later gave it to my friend and neighbor and bought A Lumix GH2 in 2012, now several generations old. Both are still going strong and taking photos every week.

I've seen enough of your photos here to know it's a good thing you think highly of it. I considered going with the II version but it didn't seem to offer a lot in the way of upgrades that were important to me and it was several hundred dollars more than the special price on this one.

I'm interested to see how difficult it'll be to get awesome nature shots from OK as opposed to ID.

If by "nature" you mean cows and horses, it should be pretty easy.

I'm sure there will be some great prairie opportunities. Maybe some whitetail rutting.

No need to be too jealous...it looks much better than it really is. (It's a repro.)
