I just can't understand the build-up of men in DC. I'm reading now the the federal prison system will go on lockdown for the inauguration. What? Some reports are saying the prisons will go on lockdown to free up BOP personnel that can then be used for security in DC. Some say just as a precaution. Neither makes sense.

If there were enough angry Americans that were planning to storm DC on inauguration day that it justified a defending force of 30k+ men, it'd be obvious by now. Those angry American's would already be in route if they planned to riot in DC on inauguration day.

But they aren't.

Are they planning for trouble after inauguration day?

What amounts to a dug in force of tens of thousands of men, all roads blocked, bridges closed, fences, razor wire, plows blocking roads, 25K NG being "vetted" for this duty. All to maybe stop a few dumbasses wearing Hawaiian shirts?

This just doesn't smell right.

Someone is scared. Either they are wasting money because they think there is a bogyman coming to DC without actual evidence of that or there is more going on then they will tell us. What we know certainly doesn't justify this response.

Why bother fencing around the Capitol if all ways in are secured? Do they think there are so many wackos heading that way that the wackos will somehow breach the secure perimeter around the downtown?

I'm not sure how many wackos really think there is going to be a huge turnout. To date, there have been ZERO widespread calls for protest in DC this week. Nobody has produced ANY evidence of a possible large inauguration protest. None.

The protest on the 6th was advertised far and wide. People drove in caravans. Filled planes. Talked about it nonstop on chats. Filled hotels ahead of time.

This week? None of that. Zero. Zip.

So who really thinks there is so much "chatter" of a protest that it deserves the biggest ever domestic federal security response?
