Let's leave the fireworks to the pros. Like the LAPD bomb squad who just tried to "safely" detonate a literal truck full of fireworks on a residential street today. 17 injured.

Amusing note: I used to know a guy on the GJPD bomb squad very well. Around ~15 years ago they had a small amount of explosives to dispose of but only had a single blasting cap. They are supposed to split it up into 2 pound increments. But hey, they were in a gravel pit, so it'll be fine right?
The gravel pit is in a self contained valley just outside of town, no risk to any properties. It'll be fine right?
People inundated dispatch and some were calling 9-1-1 from even six to seven MILES away on the other edge of town. I had family much closer that swore a train had went off the tracks and exploded. Lol. They lost the ability to do that after that incident

From what I recall, they were prohibited by the county from doing any controlled detonations at all and had to find a new location. I don't know what situations would have be an exception to the rule but people were PISSED.
Another TLDR: I also had a coworker that used to be EOD and got a yield/distance calculation wrong during a fairly large demonstration for some of their brass. Blew out the windows of several of their government vehicles. Oopsies. Got sent to a flight crew after that.
Apparently common sense conflicts with the 8 year old boy in us all when it comes to explosives.
