    Default Michigan School Shooter

Haven't seen anything on the forum about this latest crazy shooting.

His Dad bought the gun a few days before the incident and the kid had online videos of him target shooting with it. Also kept a journal describing what he planned to do and made a video the day before the shooting detailing what he was going to do.

Sounds like a weird kid and I'm sure we will find out more but it's a great example of why you keep your firearms locked up and secure. Bad Dad!!

    Why stop at the kids?

Just make everybody store their guns at a local armory facility and then they can sign them out for use at the range or hunting, under direct supervision from a LE or .mil representative- of course.

In this case, the parents WERE completely negligent in providing access and training to their fucked in the head offspring. The Dad bought the gun and conducted an range session, already knowing they were scheduled for discipline meetings at the school. Parents don't get called for school meetings because junior was being extra chatty in math one day.

The millions of families with moral and responsible teens who have access to weapons don't need to lumped into this mess.

Or just don't allow anyone to have them. That's the "progressive" strategy.

Some people are broken. That's been known for as long as there have been people. It's also been known that you don't try to define a successful society based on the rare exceptions.

You sound like one of the people that supports the "safe storage laws" BS...

You're not wrong on bad dad/parents... But you are wrong on the reason for this kids parents being "bad"...

Parents should be parents and involved. As with most of these school shooters, I expect this kid was often left to his own devices because parent(s?) worked full time jobs, sent the kid to school, and largely ignored the kid when at home because "omg, I'm tired" etc... (personal experience at several friends houses)

If the only thing keeping you teen from shooting up their school is the lock on your gun safe, you have got REAL PROBLEMS far beyond weapons access.

    QFT

I recall a few years ago a member here was stressing the security of his firearms because of issues with a child.
Turns out the issues were one of parenting more than a childs.
