I'll be damned if I didn't even think about my Mother's (passed) tradition of Black Eyed Peas and Collard Greens for New Years Eve Dinner.

I was never really a fan, but, tradition.

Had several separate & unavoidable interactions with prime contenders for the 2022 Darwin awards today. It's only the 3rd day of January & imo the finale can't come soon enough. That is all.

Went to the CS At Home store today... reaffirms why I hate the place and retail in general

It's a measure of the civility in this country that no ones seems to fear constantly pissing off the people who own lots of guns.

It's funny how stuff like that sticks with ya, I'm sure most of us have one that is also unique.

Today I replaced the broken plastic shroud on the Toro snowthrower. It channels snow up into the discharge chute. It was more difficult than I expected with lots of bolts, screws, interconnecting parts and some very tight spaces to bolt it on. Took me about 4 1/2 hours. Probably wouldn't have been cheap had I taken it to a repair shop. But looking at the mechanical parts inside there's a lot of work I wouldn't want to do myself with adjustments better left to an experienced Toro mechanic.

I'll wait until tomorrow to run the machine. Still need to dig a path to the wood piles. We have about 14 inches of snow and it looks like we could get another 18 inches by Wednesday night.

Yesterday, a cow and calf moose meandered through the yard. Hope they found our aspens unpalatable. I've sprayed them with Hinder, a deer repellent, with hope the moose won't kill more aspens in the yard.

We've had a flock of Pine Grosbeaks here and today a few Evening Grosbeaks joined them. Great birds, they come in when the snow gets deep.
