California has banned sales of new gasoline powered cars starting 2035. Washington and Massachusetts have followed suit.

I am certain Colorado will follow that lead, the only question is how soon.

If the legislature continues being Democrat controlled, my guess is during the next session.

    Place your bets.

Edit to add- In 2018 Colorado passed a law requiring the state to follow California emission laws.

Any state that signed into C.A.R.B. mandates is bound by this edict:
    Colorado
    Connecticut
    Delaware
    Maine
    Maryland
    Massachusetts
    New Jersey
    New York
    Oregon
    Pennsylvania
    Rhode Island
    Vermont
    Virginia
    Washington
    Washington D.C.

Also to correct your statement "Edit to add". This was not a law that was passed, this was a parting gift from J Hickenlooper just before he left office who signed CO into the C.A.R.B. "Agreement".

May eternal fuck be upon him and his ilk.
I would love to see this challenged but with the liberal cock gobblers, gash lickers and trannies we have in all critical offices of the state there is no chance.

Does anyone else hear think that the writers of the movie Demolition Man were fortune tellers?

If there are only Taco Bell’s there will be no shortage of gas! The sewer systems will be the problem.

Haven?t they realized the power grid can?t handle this yet? not for a hella long time. Better be willing to go nuclear.

As weve seen, the libs couldn't care less about the power grid. Rolling blackouts are just fine, wherever they happen. Oh, you can't use your AC? Well, thats just the price of progress.

Not just cars but all fossil fuels. We get more LEED points for a heat pump with electric strip heat makeup air unit than a natural gas fired unit. I also recently reviewed some drawings for a hotel/conference center development, and they have (3) 490 kW electric boilers at 480 volts, selected for the heating plant. The electric service for this place is going to be huge. Absolutely crazy. I have heard energy consultants say that until the power generated is at least 60% renewables, preferably 70%, it is better to run a high efficient condensing gas boiler over electric. This forced electrification is going to really suck in a few years?..

Not only can't it handle it yet, it is going in the wrong direction. They are actively and aggressively CLOSING power plants. I haven't looked into the rest of the country, but Colorado specifically will have closed the vast majority of our current coal plants before 2030.

The centralization of power generation seems like a huge mistake. I can think of at least 3 powerplants closed on the west slope recently, and a fourth scheduled for closure.

    Hydrogen will still be allowed.

The electrical problem could partially be solved by SMRs- Small Modular Reactors. There are fuel pellets that last longer than traditional fuel and are meltdown-proof.

Default Solar ( I hate driving to Denver)

I figure the whole car thing will be solar powered. EV's will be mainstream. Going to Walmart will be the electric car. Going to granmas in Florida take the gas car or diesel. 20% of my neighborhood has huge solar arrays in their back yard.
If I could take a high speed electric train to DIA, I would use it. Not having a solar powered high speed train along the Front Range is silly. Even the rail could be made here using solar powered steel mills...all the groundwork resources are already here locally.
