Going all electric for new cars by 2035 is a pipe dream.
If they don't keep bumping the dates out as they approach, we'll start to look like Cuba, with a lot of really old cars on the road.

Liberals never met a slippery slope they didn't grease.

I wish technology solved people issues. It seems to just reveal them.

Not gonna happen in my lifetime - better chance of seeing monkeys fly out of my ass. Or going bowling with Elvis and Jesus.
There's a lot more of us ugly mf'ers out here than there are of you pretty people!

The first Model T trucks were run on alcohol to farm sugar plantations. There was not a gas station on every corner. I already have most of the components to build a still. I already screw the utility companies by burning wood for heat all winter. I use a window unit swamp cooler for cooling the house. I rarely use the central A/C. Banning gas cars is just another market manipulation. Fat cats on Wall Street using money to repress the working class through legislation.

IMO, the whole electric vehicle/windmill farms/Green Movement BS is just another way for politicians and other rich assholes to get richer by investing in the "technology". Buying as it skyrockets, and when it all comes crashing down - they'll be there on the short side too, raking in cash both directions.

I'd say there are more factions than that.
There are the true believers, much like the hippies that chain themselves to trees.
There are those that capitalize on it, like any trend.
And there are the politicians that are looking for more control over people's lives, since they went to the fancy schools and of course know better than the rest of us.
There is some overlap in the latter two. But they both exploit the tree hugger's noble goal of a cleaner planet.
I am all for clean water and air. The question few ask and fewer answer is if achieving the goal is worth the cost. The answer, especially when the federal government is involved, is usually no.
California utilities are asking customers to avoid charging their EVs today to conserve electricity. Nice.
On a similar note, people in Colorado with xcel's "Saver's switch" got an ugly surprise last night when their home's thermostats were remotely set to 85deg and couldn't be overridden in an effort to save electricity.
We're so screwed.
Did not enjoy that surprise. Previous years, I only had it cut in for a short time after days and days of mid-upper 90s.
Wait, what? I'm not xcel customer but are you saying that they can remotely set your thermostats when and to what they choose to?On a similar note, people in Colorado with xcel's "Saver's switch" got an ugly surprise last night when their home's thermostats were remotely set to 85deg and couldn't be overridden in an effort to save electricity.
Laws aren't "preventable" measures. IOW, more gun laws won't stop mass shootings.
I am a customer, not by choice. I have seen these on a/c units. I wasn't aware they could change the thermostats. I was told they can "cycle down" a unit during peak usage.
Such nonsense. That is one of many problems with a monopoly. If there were other options, I would certainly explore them.
There is an obvious market for energy. The Public Utilities Commission should allow consumer choice.
