Number one rule- Open your eyes. If there are five or six "youths" about, keep on truckin'.

They were pulled out of their vehicle and struck with the guns.

I think if you were to shoot one of them, they would not scatter but shoot back.

However, I doubt most guys on this list would be targeted for this type of crime.

Scumbags usually look for easy victims. Even the toughest of tough guys would prefer not to get shot.

As to rule #1 : Their cars are probably of late enough model that the doors automatically unlock when shifted into park.
And to #2 : They probably didn’t have the mindset to do anything but stare like a deer in high beams at the thugs as they were pulled out of their cars.

On most vehicles lock options are programmable thorough some obtuse combination of key operations combined with some other switch.

Upon receipt of my new [then] 2007 Ridgeline, I immediately programmed the locks to lock when the car is put in gear and NEVER unlock except by explicit operation.
