Haha! $812? That is so cute!

This just priced me out of ever making money on my rentals. So I will sell them, likely to one of the conglomerates that are buying every property in town.

Michael Fields with Advance Colorado Institute is supposed to be working on a ballot measure that would cap property tax increases at 3% and even a democrat, Sen. Chris Hansen, is working on getting a bill through before the end of the session next week that would also put some kind of cap though I haven't heard the details.

Or just raise your rent like any other landlord would do.

You all keep calling it "property tax"
    I call it Extortion!

Extortion definition - Illegal use of one's official position or powers to obtain property, funds.
    (first definition that popped up)

This article says we can't keep cops in Pueblo because of such low pay. I have lost $800 worth of tools the last couple of months to thieves. Not sure where the money really goes. The problem is the drugs coming from the border.

Cops don’t make money for a city unless they are running a Morrison style traffic violation racket. Going after the guy that stole $800 in tools from you is yet another huge expense for the city. They have to pay the cop, the people working at the city jail, every person that works in the court system, the DAs and lawyers, the guys that work at the prisons all on top of the cost associated with maintaining that system down to paying the electric bills.

There is no money in chasing after people for any crime at all really. It has nothing to do with drugs coming across the border.

    This.

The financial situation is getting pretty wild in this country.

Banks are failing, but it's not being talked about.
Inflation is out of control, but it's only being talked about in the form of lies that say it's a fraction of reality.
Taxes are continuing to rise, as the tax base shrinks with more and more relying on the .gov tit.

Despite the fact that the people crying (en masse, likely not members here) voted this tax increase on themselves, this is just another example of unsustainable .gov expansion (at every level) that has doomed this country to a financial collapse.
Living the fall of an empire sucks!

Thank all the progressives who have moved here and the natives who fall in lock-step with them on voting.

And anyone else who voted to repeal the Gallagher Amendment when it went on the ballot. If you believed the "fund first responders, schools and teachers without raising taxes" line . . . you got what you deserved.

All the people you mentioned are salaried employees that earn the same regardless of workload, except maybe the lawyers.

A cop in Pueblo will make his $58k a year whether or not he chases the assholes that ripped off BushMasterBoy.

They do not have to generate the money they are paid, that is why municipalities collect taxes. Arresting and prosecuting criminals has never been about raising revenue.
