    Default Remington Leaves New York

    https://fortune.com/2024/02/11/is-re...ch_link_clicks

The nation's oldest gun-maker recently announced plans to shutter the factory in the company's original home early next month, citing the steep cost of running the historic plant. Remington is consolidating its operations in Georgia, a state the company says is friendlier to the firearms industry.

The current owners of Remington Firearms, RemArms, blamed "production inefficiencies" for the plant closure in a Nov. 30 letter to union officials.

RemArms added that Georgia offered an environment that better "supports and welcomes the firearms industry."

CEO Ken D'Arcy also said in a news release that the industry was concerned about the "legislative environment" in New York.

Hopefully, they can rebound and stay in business.

Regardless of the politics, 100-150 year old multistory industrial buildings designed and constructed around the common shaft / belt drive system of operation with smaller individually operated machines are extremely difficult to adapt to modern large CNC multiaxis stations.

If they need a new facility, might as well build it in a location that wants you to be there.

And I would imagine large industrial properties are likely cheaper in Georgia than New York.

Comparing the state taxes between New York and Georgia, it sounds like a good move.
Hopefully, the community can make use of the buildings, and they don't end up like those auto plants in Detroit.

New York is a beautiful state with great people! But the state government can blow goats, total bunch of domineering assholes bent on control. I loved touring Turnbull's and I'd work there in a minute, but I'll never live in that state again.
There's a lot more of us ugly mf'ers out here than there are of you pretty people!

Where else could they warehouse the illegal immigrants? Ilion,NY is perfect. Away from the rich elite of NYC.
