Lab pups adoption

I adopted a lab puppy from them in the spring and couldn't be happier. They bring in lab pups from all over the country that were going to be put down. My pup, now named Kimber (yes, she is named after my everyday carry gun) has been learning to hunt since I got her.

They have LOTS of pups coming through there and can always use more people looking to adopt. You do have to fill out a rather long application but that is mostly to scare off people that shouldn't have dogs.

X a million. I have adopted from MaxFund...great place! Also, I have got cats/dogs from Denver Dumb Friends League, Jeffo Co Animal Shelter and other rescue mission places! And yes I have several animals, I love them and it does cost more a month to feed them than it does myself but hey I'm ok with that...I think.

Thanks. I didn't plan on making her a pointing lab but she does it instinctively so I am going with it. Although, usually she does it from the ground so I can have her release and flush em out of the tree...not so easy from the table. Dogs do silly things sometimes. Sometimes, she'll have been outside for a while and when I go to check on her she is standing in front of the tree pointing...who knows how longs she's been there. I go out and tell her to go get em, she flushes them out and comes back to me for congratulatory belly rub. She won't be ready for this season, but look out next year.

She is around 7 months now and came in at 52 lbs the other day. I'm hoping she learns how to jump in the back of the truck by herself because I'm not going to like lifting her before too long.

This is the first dog I have personally trained so I was a little worried about an older rescue dog as I know some of the older abused dogs take some extra attention and focus that I wasn't sure I knew how to give. I still wanted a rescue dog so I looked for a place that had pups because in my mind a pup gave me the best chance of training success, whether that's true or not. And I wanted her to hunt and an older rescue dog wouldn't have been trained to do that. Mile High Lab Mission does have some older dogs but mostly pups. My pup came from Tenn. with her mom. Mom got adopted out shortly after she did. Mile High Lab mission has only been around less than a year but they have adopted out MANY dogs. At my last count in July they had adopted out 99 dogs. All run basically by one lady. Great person.
