A tax stamp, not a license. Not being argumentative, just want to make sure the facts are straight for propriety.

i knew the barrel length is an issue, i had seen one before and was wondering about the ability of the average person to own one.

    Three options:
    1. LEO sign off. Belongs to you directly.
    2. Form an LLC. Have to follow the rules of an LLC and file annual meetings (someone clear this up). Belongs to the LLC.
    3. Living Revocable(?) Trust. Belongs to the trust, can have beneficiaries inherit it. Make sure you have the correct wording in your trust. ATF can and does do whatever it wants, including going against what it told you in writing in a letter.

Default Only if you are patient

If you can own a gun you can own a SBR in Colorado. Or any other NFA stuff. The current processing time on the paperwork is anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months or longer.

There may be some locations where you have to incorporate or form a trust to do it though.

By this he means that those are your only options because the LEO won't sign for it.

Actually you would file a form 1 because you are "making" the firearm. still a 200$ stamp, and there are marking requirments. Better to buy an SBR gun from a dealer, esp. if this is your first time down the NFA road.
