WOW... that was an light read!

The red strips on my knees are now a deep purple and my feet have fallen asleep. I read this while sitting on the toilet and lost all blood flow to my lower extremities! I shoulda scroleld down before diving into this! Thanks Wulf202! I now have to crawl to the shower to clean myself off!

You do make some good points though.

For clarification, this is not my rant. All credit goes to Rod E. @survival blog.

I just happen to agree and spread the word.

Many of my "friends" and co workers have said the same thing. I will just come to your place.

I hear the same statement over and over. "My wife wont let me"....... So if something were to happen she plans on coming here? My own wife does not totally understand. She helps and gets most of it but if something were to happen she does not understand when I tell her that most of the family would be on there own.

I have some friends that have started but as the preparations start to grow the other half freaks out. Once you get past a couple of weeks worth of supplies then you are labeled as a "nut job".

I no longer try and convert anyone. I just do the best I can and help those that want to learn. The others like in the first sentence I tell them that it will be "sorry, but I can't help you"
I see you running, tell me what your running from

Nobody's coming, what ya do that was so wrong.

Good post, and I agree for the most part. I think for me, it will be a "what can you bring to the table" situation, and "will you hinder my survival". With that said, I think that will leave my Parents, my Girlfriends Parents, and my brothers. Those people will be welcomed to join me in my efforts, because I know they have something to bring to the table, rather it be equipment, or skills. As selfish as it may sound, it's hard enough for you to prepare enough for yourself let alone multiple people. For now, it's just me and my GF and our immediate families. We will be escaping to our cabin in the mountains

This is truth. There's no way to convert anyone who doesn't want to know. You might as well put on your best geeksquad look and ride a bike around bothering people at their front doors...

I would like to think that I could survive for a while.
the hardest part of all of this will be the initial breakdown and the exodus.

Raise your hands if your PRIMARY Survival plan involves the word "GO"

You and 400 THOUSAND Other people
There is another 400 Thousand that will follow you simply because "Everyone else is doing it"

Pre-cut 3/4 Ply with 2x4s and carriage bolts
    whose got them?
If your answer is Home Depot or Lowes, you are in trouble right now.
The initial exodus will Bog traffic avenues and everything will become a parking lot.

Is it a Perfect Plan? Nope... the perfect plan is a pipe dream. but it beats the hell out of trying to get to the Mountains with everyone in the Denver metro stuck on I-70 or I-25.

As bad as it is, my current plan is just to bug in rather then bug out. Quite frankly I don't have anywhere to go until I can finish saving up for some land.

Same here, my goal is to have two plans. The bug in plan and the bug out plan.

My hats off to jerrymrc! He has held a couple weekend meetings to help learn and teach some of the talents that would be VERY helpful in a SHTF scenario (side note - I wanted to attend both of the lessons he held but failed to plan correctly to make it). And he has, IMO, a realistic perspective of how people are going to HAVE to treat others in a SHTF scenario. He's making time to share an ounce of prevention because there probably will be no cure, much less a pound of it.

The Patriot - Not a great literary work, but it's a nice way of detailing how you would IDEALLY want to be prepared and put it into a story form to show how some of the preparedness would be applied practically.

    that's my 2 cents.
