Yes... my mind spins. Bar brawls and dumb bangers and all pick fights for reasons I don't understand... but they go about enacting their "revenge" or whatever their mind contrives as righteouss very poorly. I was trying to figure out their mindset for committing their acts so poorly. There are better (i.e. quicker/cleaner/etc) ways of handing out concieved "justice" for street cred or whatever their purpose. Just wanted to know "why" people think the spray and pray type stuff works..... I not laying this out very well... grrr....

The point I'm trying to make is that this stuff is done in anger. The stuff you are talking about takes planning, time, experience, etc. If these people waited one more hour to cool down, likely nothing would have happened at all.

It's their understanding of how to gain power and respect from the act of killing another person. You can't respect his actions, because you have a different social pool. Doing what you are talking won't gain him the respect and power from his social pool as they wouldn't understand it.
Same thing with the baggie pants style. Know how that got started? Bangers started designating one guy in the gang to hang out with a cut off shotgun in his pants. Yep, big baggy fricken pants to hide the smoke pole. Everyone started seeing the baggie pants as a symbol of POWER. Tada, ghetto's full of baggie pants wearin mo-fo's overnight.
Want to stay alive in a really crappy and violent place? Be don't-give-a-shit crazy, or earn respect. Only women and the KGB/FBS poison someone they want to kill. No respect to be earned that way. Knife takes too much training and balls for the average banger. So, walk up and shoot him. But, most have no training so they just start firing rounds off to better the chances they actually kill the person.

I did not know that about baggie pants... so when does it transform into a trend to where the preppy rich white guys wear it? Do they honestly think that emulating the black/hip-hop/gangsta/whatever you call it culture is where responsibility/discipline/being a man/etc actually lay?

as to methodology, the spray and pray allows them to use guns to demonstrate power, inspiring fear, and gaining respect from their peers, without the risk associated with facing their rivals one on one. Thus, they get what they want, without placing themselves in harm's way. A bonus is that they don't need any real skill, so not only are they cowards, they're LAZY cowards....
Of course, when they did a drive by on a friend's house shortly after the previous (gang banger) tenant moved out and he moved in, they got a nasty surprise in the form of several rounds of 7.62x54R steel core into the front wheels, tires, and engine area of the car they were driving. Said car was abandoned about 50 yards further down the street, with a distinct scent of urine surrounding it.....
I am going to have to pretty much stand my ground on this and redouble my original arguments
