Okay, I'm not a bail bondman, but this CO law that let's them off the hook for the bail on an illegal just means they'll keep bailing out illegals. If he had remained in jail ICE would have had to jump through some hoops to help him run from justice.

Dang Byte, that pisses me off just reading it. This type of abuse has got to be stopped. Why can't we get some common sense laws in place and common sense public assistance like welfare in place? I realize that some folks legitimately come on hard times so I'm not advocating completely doing away with the program, but Food Stamps should be run like WIC where you can only buy certain types of food - and it must be nutritional, not junk food. You want junk food, get a job that'll pay for it. And niceties like steak should be coded as a very limited item.

When I was in college and couldn't even afford a bike to help me get around town - and got $0.00 support from my parents or anyone else, I stood in line at the local Safeway with the barest of essentials that I could afford and carry the 1.5 miles to my roach infested trailer. I watched with envy the guy in front of me with his new Reebok's and leather Members Only jacket (it was the '80's and they were in style), and all of the wonderful food he had. He paid for it all with Food Stamps. I was furious. I then watched him go out to his car, it was a less than 2 year old Trans Am, knowing that I was going to have to carry my pitiful purchases by hand all of the way home. At that point, I came to realize just how fraught with fraud and abuse the welfare system is. Not that it really makes it any better, but at least that guy was a citizen.

Why is it that our government thinks we need to give special privlidges to illegal non-citizens anyway? As much as I hate to say it, even under Conservative administrations we were making it easy on illegals. None of these problems we're reading about in the news today is a new problem - they've only become increasingly worse recently, that's all. So, why?!
