The best part of living up here is having all the wildlife wandering around on the property. I haven't hunted since the mid-90s...just don't have the heart to shoot an animal anymore (that's not trying to eat me, anyway). I would if I had to in a survival situation...but I doubt I'd get any enjoyment out of it other than the not going hungry part.

A couple of years ago I had to shoot a fox that had sorta taken up residence in my barn. He'd been hit on the highway and his back was broken. I didn't sleep for 3 or 4 nights because he reminded me so much of one of my dogs.

I'm just a pansy that way, I guess. So I just enjoy looking at 'em these days.

    OK...let the brow-beating commence...

Totally understandable. One of my best friends is in laporte. Turkey and deer everywhere with the occasional bear and elk. He is the biggest hunter I know but wont take anything on his own property because he likes to look at them.

BUT if you ever want to thin the herd or make someone happy just shout and I am sure plenty of us would be more than happy to take a beautiful deer like that!

I saw this guy sitting in a friend's front yard in Bailey today. His doe friend was a little more skittish, and she walked away nervously when I turned into the driveway, but I was driving my truck up the driveway and I got within about 30 feet of this one and he just looked at me in a sort of disinterested manner and continued to sit there.

    no brow beating man.

with a broken back, I'd have thought you were an ass if you HADN'T shot him.

it takes a man to do the tough things that need to be done.

    thumbs up for Bailey!
