    Default G19 Help

So I finally took my 19 out. First I love Glocks. Second I had a few issues with it. I had a few Failure to Ejects/extracts. Before I went I stripped down the slide and the extractor spring was real rusty, so i cleaned it and put ti back together. Once it happened to me when it didn't have a magazine in it. Then I tried to make it jam. Finally got it to jam, work fine for a while then another jam. Couldn't seem to get it to do the same thing again.

Pretty sure the ammo is good as my 26 ate everything, in all magazines to include three happy sticks.

So no pattern of why it would jam.

Any tricks or possible causes, i'm thinking the rust weakened the spring, seeing if any one has a second opinion.

I was able to get my cousin's brand new G17 to stove pipe by limp wristing it.

I would replace every spring in it. They are cheap. Check the extractor and make sure it is not chipped/ damaged. Replace if needed. Detail clean the pistol making sure the bore for the extractor plunger is clean.
How did it come to be that the springs rusted?
I have never fired a Glock that was sensitive to "limp wristing", at least not that I noticed.

I'm guessing you bought it used? Is it a Gen4? Any other details?

Have you marked magazines and done other things to try and narrow it down?

You're probably too manly, and your weakest "grip" is above the threshold.

Bought it used off a buddy. So not too sure how the springs got rusted. As far as marking the mags i could never find a pattern. Tried ever mag in my 26 all worked fine. Real hard to get my 19 to limp wrist jam, the 26 wouldn't do it.

    Also its a Gen3.

One last thing the Guide rod was real scratched from where the recoil spring has been rubbing, figured it was normal for a plastic guide rod.

Thanks for the help so far guys, looks like it have a reason to use my birthday discount at Midway now.

A little wear on the guide rod is normal but when you say really scratched it sends a bit of a flag. It should not be really scratched up- you may have a high round count pistol which means you NEED to re-spring it. Glock recommends every 2000 rounds or 2 years to replace the springs, including mag springs.
You will probably save some money if you call Glock directly (have your S/N) and order the parts from them. You will also get the advantage of any factory upgrades that it may be in line for.

Yuppers on what BP said .. talk to Glock about a springs kit, ask about the wear on the guide rod and if they recommend it just replace it. Might want to replace the extractor as well. BP can do the tune up for you, he actually does honest work, just watch out for all the paperwork he'll drop on you

And when you get done with that, hit us up for a holster

I replaced both of the OEM guide rods in my Glocks (17, 20) with a one piece steel unit simply because I don't like the idea of a plastic guide rod. (I know, they work fine. I just don't like 'em.) But just out of curiosity, if the springs and extractor were in that kind of shape what shape is the chamber and back of the barrel in? Any rough spots or burrs, anything like that?
