I hope the military does do the pinion canyon expansion, and brings the extra helicopter brigade in, them boys deserve the proper places to train for our freedom, those people who are bitching only get to do so through the sacrifices our boys made years before, and they should be thankful, and grateful.

I love the sound of Helicopters in the morning...

There does seem to be more of them along the hwy115 side of Carson lately- just an observation... they've had complaints in the past when the Apaches appear to be acquiring targets on the hwy... ducked in behind a ridge-line. I find it amusing.

I don't understand the mentality of people that would move to an area, and then expect the area to conform to THEM... just self-serving people, I guess.

^^^ this. The same mentality that people have, who move into an area heavily populated by wildlife, and then bitch when dear are eating their tulips, and bears are getting into their trash. You see that really tall bridge just down the street? Walk to it, and jump off of it.

Personally, I would LOVE to get the chance to watch some helo training, especially gunnery! Helos have always fascinated me.

A couple of weeks ago, I heard a helo making several very low passes over our house and around the neighborhood, figured it was the cops looking for somebody or some construction bigwigs looking over a building site or whatever.

Turns out, the elementary school right behind us was getting a demonstration by an Army or NG Kiowa helo. They were flying low and fast all around the area, just wringing the bird out for the kiddies. All the kids and teachers were out on the playground, and the Kiowa finally came in to land, settled down on the sports field right in front of them, did a slow 360*, then landed and shut down. It was pretty cool, and the kids were going wild! We need more of that in this day and age. Flush some of the Liberal propaganda BS out of their little minds.

The protester is probably pissed because Carson is moving in a new Combat Aviation Brigade. There's shit tons of construction right now up here near Butts Army Airfield. Building new headquarters buildings, motorpools, barracks, a VERY nice chow hall with a drive-through window, etc... they havent even started on all the new hangars yet... Speaking of gunnery, our Apache's are just wrapping up their gunnery today. Lots of rockets, hellfires and 30mm being fired over the last couple weeks. It has been fun watching but the work schedule sucks! LOL

The Colorado Springs PD had to sell their two helo's so the only ones flying right now in that area are military. I've watched them fly between Pueblo and Springs pretty regularly.

They are building like mad down by the airfield at Carson, with a number of brand spanking new buildings similar to what they built along the banana belt for the battalions. I know a couple are for and paid for by the Colo National Guard.

There is room for the bodies, but they will need to develop the infrastructure more to accomodate.

I don't have a lot of sympathy (Okay, none) for idiots who move in near a military base or airport and then piss and moan about noise. In almost every instance, the installation was there long before they were. In the case of DIA, look how those idiot developers built up subdivisions not far from it after it opened. And if they plus up a base, those idiots ought to be ecstatic about the extra $$$ that will bring to the area. That's a lot of $ that helps everyone in the area, even if it's indirectly.

Those folks should be counting their blessings that they're hearing those helos, or jets, or anything else coming and going from those places. But ignorance does have a habit of making people do stupid things.

I grew up in Enid, OK, and the biggest asset the town has is Vance AFB and it's pilot training program. That's what keeps that town alive. We lived right under the most-used final approach, and sure, it was noisy. But I used to love watching the planes! Esp. during the 60's-70's Vietnam era, when there was all kinds of cool stuff flying in frequently. The noise, you learn to live with it. Wasn't that bad with the T37's and T38's, but a couple of Phantoms coming in was a different story.
