I saw on BBC World News America an interview with a Russian asking about the releases saying Russia is rife with corruption bordering on being a Mafia state, and if that was insulting to the Russian public. The reporter scoffed and said that in Russia, this is not news. Their reaction was one of "Well no shit, maybe that explains the bribe I had to pay this morning"

The fact that our government made half ass attempts to pressure Amazon, EveryDNS, Paypal, Mastercard/VISA, and ISP's in other nations to take down http://www.wikileaks.org shows so much ignorance for the internet that it's frankly insulting. In classic bureaucratic fashion they have managed to inflict more damage on themselves while responding.
