Default Concealed Carry Tactical Pistol Class

I recently took the Concealed Carry Tactical Pistol course at Colorado Shooting Sports in Greeley. I can not say enough good things about this course. It is not a “show up and get signed off” class. It’s a full day of instruction with over half the day spent on the range. The emphasis is on practical topics and skills. Anthony is an awesome instructor, he is “on” from the start of the class to the wrap-up. I never felt I was being rushed, ignored, or put off. I left at the end of the day feeling like I had gotten my moneys worth and more. In addition to learning a lot, it was a BALL!

Ripper is 100% correct. I took this class this past weekend and had a great time. We were a pretty diverse group, 3 brand new shooters one who had shot revo comps and me somewhere in the middle. This is one of the best gun/shooting related investments I have made. This is real training, no BS.

I took the concealed carry course with Anthony last December and it was awesome. Anthony is a no BS guy that presents the information well and is a great teacher. The class was my first introduction to shooting on the move and shooting in odd positions, which was a ton of fun.

Just to confirm, this isn't just a "get your CCW permit" class, right? Its more advanced?

Definitely not just a "get you CCW" class. I think we spent about 1-2 hours of lecture (the CCW part) with some good mindset stuff thrown in, then another 1-2 hours on unloaded weapons handling, sight picture, drawing, malfunction clearing, etc. Then we had lunch and headed to the range where we spent about 3 hours working on shooting, trigger control, drawing and presenting, shooting while moving sideways/forwards/backwards, shooting from your back/side, and engaging multiple targets.

The class covers the basics, but is definitely more of a "how to fight with your gun" class rather than a "what you need to do to get your permit" class.

I'd have to say this course would offer more than most "Advanced" classes offered by others. He has a money back guaranty, so if you feel it wasn't worth it, you aren't out anything. He has rentals as well, if needed.

If you get a chance, check out the stippled Glocks there, amazing feel.

I have taken both the Carry class and the Tactical Med class from Anthony. I really enjoyed both. The carry class was great, I only wish it was longer (even though it is 8 hours). He covers basics as well as more advanced topics. I was skeptical when he claimed after the initial shooting that he was going to tighten everyone's groups by 80% in the next 10 minutes, then I watched my group at 7 yards go from 4" to about an 1.5". He also covers shooting on the move, shooting from retention, on the ground, multiple targets, etc.

The Tac Med class is one of the coolest classes I have ever taken. The focus is on gunshots/stabbings/industrial accidents/car crashes etc, so I liked that I had also taken the Red Cross CPR and First Aid to get teh basics, but adding Tac Med makes for a great combo. Anthony was an ER nurse before becoming an instructor and has a very solid medical background. After the basics are covered each student goes through scenarios alone or in pairs that are then critiqued.

One thing about these classes is that they take you outside your comfort zone. Stress in induced into the shooting (but safely and without any drill instructor type antics), you get dirty, and you end up with tourniquets on your arms and legs in Tac Med. I see this as a good thing as situations where you need these skills are stressful.

Looking around on their website and I must say, i'm quite impressed. If I needed to take a CCW class, i'd likely look into theirs.

Tac-Med or Advanced Handgun is next for me. Anthony is a great instructor. I can't wait.
