    Default I've tried...

I've tried using open office for several months now... I just don't like it and a lot of my files are not displayed properly from MS Office at work, or when I tried to scan info in, blah, blah etc....

So, does anyone have an old copy of MS Office I can have or buy off you cheap. I don't have $300 to go out and buy the latest and greatest.

All I really need is Word, Powerpoint, and Excel.

    Thank you.

I haven't played with it much, but have you looked at Google Docs?

I love Open Office, I run Ubuntu on my computer at home, and the only problems I encounter is margins or spacing when I bring a document to work and it tries to open it with Windows 2007, when they switched their file extensions to the stupid .docx, .xlsx, etc format. When I "save as" in Open Office, I just choose to save as .doc Windows 2003 format. Not a lot of problems there after. I am not positive of this, but I think some of the newer Windows are beginning to include .odt format as a readable file extension and that simplifies things greatly when you have Open Office.

I walked away from Windows and haven't looked back since. Even though I'm not too adept at computer use, I've learned a lot at least, and haven't had a hard drive crash or virus since.

See if your company participates in the Microsoft Home Use Program (www.microsofthup.com)

If so, you can buy office for $10.
    9mm - because they don't make a 9.1mm

    They do not.

Thanks for trying Pat. I think I may have found one hopefully. Will update if it comes to fruition.

That's great and all. I like the freedom of not really having to worry about it, or the need for antivirus software. Just another pain in the ass program, using up a lot of the CPU's capability when I'm trying to do other stuff.

I'm fairly certain that this is the case with the 2007 version of MS Office Pro through the HUP, but I *KNOW* it's the case with the 2010 version... The key is valid for use on 2 computers, not just 1 like it used to be. THe thinking is that you can use it on a home desktop and a laptop.

Now, the new was of doing it is you download the first copy straight from the site and you have to spend the extra $10 for the media (CD-Rom) to be able to load it onto another computer. This is still a bargain at having 2 full versions of MS Office Pro 2010 for about $22.

I use it everyday. It's not nearly as good as Word, Excel... But it's free
