I think that idea of debate and discussion has died away in this society. We only pay attention to what reinforces what we believe.

I think the internet has made it worse. Personally, I read far right far left and in between. If I don't read something every week that raises my blood pressure, I'm slacking.

    I'm right! You're wrong! Eat $hiat!

Doesn't leave much room for debate, huh?

If any of the "mainstream" media was relevant, I might listen to them.

(I'm just using this as a different view. I really suggest you don't click on this link)

I'll stir it up by adding this link to an article http://exiledonline.com/the-war-nerd...me/#more-28883

It's titled THE WAR NERD ON AF-PAK: LOSING THE LONG WAR, ONE MAN AT A TIMEBy Gary Brecher[, the War Nerd. The Exile, in its glory days, was wild and always over the top. It's not fun but does get at our difficulty in fighting guerrilla wars.

We like to think of ourselves as the good guys. If we followed what other countries have done, that would kind of blow up the good guy image. Grabbing 50 men, women and children and shooting them for what happened to Sgt. Allen would have been SOP for many armies. The actual number would varied but this was the way it was fought. The Brits actually won some insurgencies by locking everybody up in concentration camps.
