Finally, something to keep my AR safe in my trunk! I hate when magazines accidentally fall into it, the bolt magically chambers a round, and a ghost pulls the trigger. I think I have finally had my last bullet hole to patch!

interesting thread, seems like a good idea if it wasn't a piece of junk made in China. Is this product a good idea for all situations? not in my opinion. for someone who wants added security for their one or two guns that they own this is an economical alternative to a gun safe (not better though in my opinion) my 3 year old daughter loves helping me build my ak's in fact she usually has some random ak part in her purse but she also knows for a fact to never touch any of my guns unless she has permission (I keep them safe when they aren't out) i'm not super worried about an accident in the home (though they can happen) the main reason i want to get a safe or even a product like this is in case someone were to ever break in and steal any of my guns.

just because you don't see a personal need for something doesn't mean that it's a crappy idea and has no purpose for anyone else.

    just sayin.....

edit: my go to gun would never have anything like this on it, mine is kept loaded as well lol

Interesting idea, I'm personally waiting for shotlock's AR15 model to come out though.

Byte, that does look like a good idea. I myself go with the what could go wrong philosophy, never want to be the one saying "well I never thought it could happen". If it is a sturdy product not made in china, I think it is a good buy, especially for the price. I have too many kids runnin around my place to not be to careful and the guns that I do have here all have the bolt and or firing pins taken out except our home defense weapons. People can say that is a little over the top, but, you can never be too careful.

For those that worry about kids finding the keys and unlocking everything, my brother (who also breeds like a rabbit) put paint on his keys to match up the locks they go to. However, he did them in complete opposites, red key goes to the green lock, yellow key to the purple lock and so on.

Those are opposites on color charts. Now, I don't know how that was decided and by who, but I remember it from art classes also.
