    2) He hasn't been convicted yet. His relatively low bond would seem to indicate there is some weakness in the case against him. Given the propensity for the "news" media to sensationalize stuff, it's entirely possible that when all of the facts come out, that he's guilty of nothing more than being stupid. Trial by public opinion flat pisses me off, as all someone has to do is blab to one of these so called journalists, and someone's life can be destroyed, long before a jury decides guilt or innocence.

Some of you may remember the United Bank robbery/killings years ago in Denver. The man accused of those murders was the father of one of my good friends. He was acquitted after a 6 month trial, lost his job, nearly lost his house, and had to declare bankruptcy. The newspapers crucified him, and branded him a killer, when the most compelling evidence against him (a retired police officer) was the outline of a novel he was writing. To this day, he has to deal with repercussions of this fiasco, even after he was cleared of all charges.

I think, or at least I hope, that everyone is thinking in that same direction; if he is found guilty... then, he is a sicko and will get what is coming in prison.

The fact that he's an authority figure means they can charge him with greater crimes... I'm surprised they haven't charged him with "sexual assault on a minor by one in a position of trust"... unless he didn't touch her, just took pictures? (the wording of this statute requires touching, but not "sex" as an act)

Well put, but if the story of pictures on his phone is accurate, that's a crime in itself... but he is innocent until proven guilty, the severity of his accused crime doesn't automatically mean he's guilty...

Being in law enforcement myself if this guy is guilty "which so far the evidence does not look good for him" then nail this guy. We are not perfect just like anyone else but there is a difference between doing something stupid verses being a CHOMO "child molester". Nail this guy to the wall. Child molesters are already in deep trouble going to DOC. Well a cop going to DOC as a child molester is even worse. I have friends who have had run ins with this guy and he seemed like a jerk to begin with. Makes the people who do our jobs right and try to live good lives look like this piece of garbage.

Some of them seem so friendly and naive they are easily duped or taken advantage of, but then you get the other ones who want to act like a hallroom monitor and cite people for every minor infraction they can think of. Neither type should be involved with law enforcement.

Now, the sneaky sociopathic types with above average intelligence usually know all the "right" answers, smile, laugh, and interview very well. They are even harder to weed out if they come from a police family as they will blend in easier and present as an ideal candidate. Then, years later, you find out they've been acting like a thug or a criminal and getting away with it for a long time.

Why is it that departments always seem to pick the creepy guy who the other cops don't get along with to be the D.A.R.E. officer?

So when you take your lie detector test and psych test, you're supposed to ignore all that "answer honestly" stuff and try and test like a criminal?
