Glock Pre Ban mags?

So I am digging around on Gunbroker just for fun and ran into this ad:

I thought it was a bit bizarre and decided to research it more. I have found a few people with similar ads with similar pricing? Anyone know why they are really high dollar? I just picked up a mag from a board member that read LE/GOVT USE ONLY Man. 9-13-1994. Of course we all know what happened on 9.14.1994 but I did not nearly pay that much for mine. Is someone just trying to rip people off? Can anyone explain this to a me?????

For that price these mags should dispense Cappuccino Latte and give spinal adjustments during a massage while feeding ammunition to your Glock and being "drop free."

with SOME states (like Kalifornia and NY) only allowing bans made before a particular date to be in non-LEO hands. While the federal law sunsetted and freed the rest of us, those states either had already passed a law banning them (so that the crime could be a state crime and punishable without the cooperation of the feds) or very quickly thereafter.

Preban unmarked hicaps, for instance, will NOT be Gen4 mags, the feed lips will be of a round configuration.

Preban Glock mags might as well be made of gold in NY. Being able to carry a modern handgun with reasonable capacity is priceless. A lot of people either use Hi-Powers or carry .45s and deal with only a couple less rounds.

The intention is indeed for places like California but, as I understand the law, this is still technically not a legal transaction and it's BS to charge extra for the words "pre-ban."

It's illegal to import, modify, purchase, sell, or give away magazines that hold more than 10 rounds there. It is not, however, illegal to posess them. Try and figure that one out. The common loophole is to get what's called a rebuild kit for the magazine you totally had before the ban that you found in your dead grandmother's garden. The burden of proof is on the prosecution. It's common to see them in the competition circuits and in the range bags of idiots who are too dumb to keep that info to themselves. Obviously there's no excuse for mags that didn't exist before the ban.

Edit: I just took a closer look at that auction and they won't even ship to California or other restricted areas so I really don't understand that price.

Maybe true for CA, but NY its a felony to possess post-ban magazines above 10 rounds. There is no limit on sale of pre-ban magazines or possession.

Some companies will sell "rebuild kits" in order to cover their ass if a NY resident wants to disobey the law.

So your telling the mag I just bought for XXX amount of dollars is like to Gold to New Yorkers?!?! I could not figure it out for the longest time but I did find some more ads with similar mags for about the same price $80 a piece which seems like the going rate.

I know this seller from the gun shows in Louisville, Nashville and the surrounding areas. Check out his 28 pages of actions on gun broker... He's strictly a 'retail' seller...

And as Deus pointed out, there is a market for pre-ban mags in certain parts of the country.

Well if anyone wants a pre ban mag for $80 dollars I will sell it to you with free shipping (only joking of course) well thanks for the replies guys. Cleared things up for me!
