Has anyone tried the socket method on the recessed ring at the end of the magazine extension? You know, the part of the mag extension that you put your screw for the barrel clamp.

Would getting rid of that indention make my 20" 870 an 8+1? I'm just not sure the magazine spring can compress enough to fit 8 rounds. Just wondering if anyone knows or has tried....before I start pulling out sockets and heading to the shop press.

getting rid of those indents and getting an extension would make it an 8+1. Simply getting rid of the dents would make it easier for your magazine tube cap to undo itself, but wouldn't help you fit any more rounds.

I don't think you're understanding me. I'm talking about modifying the extension and not the part attached to the receiver. This is not the "how do I get rid of the dimples" issue. Mag extension works fine. I am currently at 7+1, but want MORE!
