I'd get to about 2 years of food, then start illegally selling it at "discount" prices to people in my apartment complex. Also donate some.

I gree that the Extreme Couponing show seemed to be little more than "hoarders with shelves", but I agree with the concept in general. To get some of the bargains they get you have to buy during the season the items are on sale (all items have "seasons" where the best deals are available) - even if you don't need the item (or as many of the item) at a particular time.

With all of that said, 1500 tubes of toothpaste is ridiculous. My wife has recently been working to get more and more into the whole "extreme couponing". Just 2 weeks ago she took advantage of a combination sale and coupon where she had 10 coupons for $1.00 off COlgate toothpaste. COmbined with the sale @ Wally World for said toothpaste @ $0.97/tube, she actually got 10 tunes for FREE with 3 cents per tube (30 cents total) reduced from another item she bought. It will probably take just over a year for us to use all of this toothpaste, but we will use all of it and 1 year stock isn't bad - 1500 tubes is nuts!

Some of those people just do it to do it. For us we do it with things we use. Last August we stocked up on soup. There was a coupon for 1.00 off andthe store was selling the brand I like for 1.49 a can. we waited for the day they doubled coupons and got 40 cans for free. plenty of soup for the cold days. We have talked about it. We dont need 200 sticks of deoderant. 3-5 is plenty for a while. Unless its free then maybe 10.

The thing that bothered me about the coupon shows, was them complaining about how they do that because they are tight on money; then panicking in line because they might go over budget. Hey asshole, you have 3 years worth of not only food, but laundry, cleaning, and all other house hold items. Just take a year off from spending 6 hours a day planning shopping trips and see how your financial situation changes.

I don't understand the part about buying like 75 mustards at a time though. Can't you just stop at ten? Or is the idea more like what Mrs. Ginsue did, to get additional money off of other products?

I wish you could do extreme couponing for clothes, guns, and camping supplies as well. Hell, who couldn't use 130 Toyota Tacomas for only $5,000?

It depends on the store and their policies. Some stores wont give you money back. So if you have a 2.00 off coupon and the item is on sale for 1.89 you wont get .11 back. Some stores will. We have gotten cashback a couple times but usually we wind up just dropping our bill to a very low number and be happy about it. And I agree 75 jars of mustard is insane. Perishable stuff we buy only a few at a time. No sense in having 100 jars of spaghetti sauce if 75 will go bad. But TP,paper towels......If we can get them for pennies or free we get a bunch and just store it in the garage.

While the show is a bit much I'm with the G-man and we will stock up on certain things when the opportunity arises.
Mrs. BP is awesome when she goes to the store and typically racks up around 1-200.00 in coupon "savings". Not really savings-they just overcharge and the coupons even it out.
