    Default Build Number Two

I got a Romy G together today. It took some work. It might be the bargain NDS-3 receiver. The NDS site said to use a double hook FCG but I couldn't get it to work with the selector lever so I used a single hook and it is fine, other than having already tossed a hammer spring from one side. The hammer was WAY high. I couldn't get it to fit until I'd ground it down quite a bit. I might do it some more since it still hits which could make it jump out of the slide when fired.

I found one thing strange. The gas tube was very undersize. It was very noticeable compared to others. It couldn't stay in. It makes me wonder since this is an original barrel, all numbers matching. I used the tube from the other kit I'm doing.

I have several slant brakes and I just put one on. I'll see which fits best. Are they typically straight down or canted?

Since it already has a side mount I put a cheap Chinese scope on. It'll need some adjustment.

I'd used KG Gun Kote AK Black on the receiver but decided I don't like it. I love the look of a good dark blue or oiled park. It has more depth. I'll have to look into methods that aren't too toxic (I have a septic system) and affordable.

Oh another question. Did the reciever come with the scope mount rivet holes or did you fab that in yourself???

I just built a 74 and my nodak didn't come with the scope mount holes. I'm kinda wishing I got the receiver that did come with those just in case I want to scope it later.

At least it ain't a reverse dong. This will probably stay there and the next one will have a palm swell one.

It didn't come with holes, unless you count the rear trunnion. I got rails from http://www.collectorssourcedfw.com/o...ing-rails.html

This is the RMP2-IK and fits nice on a Romy. It might be different with a flat but since this was an NDS I figured I should mount the rail while I'm working on it. I used the MPK2 on my AMD-65.

The company is run by Tantal's daughter. He's well known on the AK boards. I don't know it I'd want holes in a receiver waiting for a rail. It looks ugly to me.

looks awesome steve! i think i remember on an earlier run of nds3 receivers using it with a tapco it requires modding the hammer, they used to have instructions on how much to grind in their site. i'm glad you said that that's tantals daughter that's running that cause i need to get a 2nd generation russian 74 scope rail for my east german 74 clone and tantal used to make them, homefully his daughter still has them.

brycom, for a scope rail just get a normal 74 rail that shares a rived with the trunnion and it will be easy to drill the middle and front rivet holes for the scope rail. if it's hard to smash the rivets with your rivet tool we could always smash them with my pneumatic smasher

nice build. what were you going to do with the "undersized" gas tube" i am looking for one to use as a drilled gas tube project on my 106. after 20 - 30 rounds i get a lot of blow back while using my suppressor.

I'm probably going to hang onto it for now. I still have a bunch of kits and it still might be used. I'm glad I had the other G ready to go so I could just swap.
