It's dependent upon which agency you are dealing with. Some believe they are too busy for that type of crime. Some do not. My former Metro area agency wasn't too busy and we took that type of crime seriously and tracked down the videos, tracked down suspects and made arrests. A L.E. buddy of mine from that agency was at the Colorado Springs zoo and a suspect stole his wife's wallet out of her purse on the child stroller and went on a spending spree. Colorado Springs PD was too busy to assist and told them to file a desk report, report it to their credit cards and the credit card companies would take care of it, reimburse, etc. While that may be eventually true, he wanted retribution and someone arrested!

From the sounds of it, if you get this solved Opie, there could be several arrests and several job openings to post on the board!

I you're offended by this, well sorry.

I should've been more clear on why he won't help. The boss treats my wife like shit and he's a terrible person. The illegal comment was meant that he'll protect them over her and that I was/am pissed about that.

If the owner condones a "hostile work environment", and you can prove it using the evidence in this case, maybe she should sue him?

I hope you catch the thief and help put him/her in a sh!tty prison somewhere.

If he really protects illegals, he is in a different playing field and will be of no use to you. I hope the catch whoever took your guys things and cut off their dominate hand... But, they won't. They might get a slap on the hand in reality...

Unless things have changed since I retired, the credit card company will cover the fraudulent charges and then they become the victim not you. In most cases they will just write off the losses and not prosecute rather than go through the hassle and inconvenience.

I doubt they'll expent the man-hours or $$ to do that. Unlike television, real life police dept's are so buried with crimes that things like this or BMV (burglary of a motor vehicle), vandalism, etc. just don't get pursued. I love watching on TV how they always seem to dust for fingerprints - almost never happens in real life any more.
