I lived in flagstaff for a few years and would have thought Winslow would be too dry for pigs, I guess they are pretty adaptive.
I'll share a bit of a humorous story from a couple of weeks ago. My parents have about 35 acres in TX and have been having increasing problems with pigs tearing things up (I've eaten a couple of the perps they trapped in the past). Anyhow, our last night my mom wakes me up at 2:00 am saying the pigs are back. I get the AR (open sights only) hearing protection and spot light. I tell my mom to stand behind me and shine over my shoulder. We sneak out onto the back porch and she hits them with the spot light. As soon as the light hits them they start running away (about 50 yds) and I start popping. Kind of comical as my mom was swinging towards one pig and I would be keyed in on another so I would loose it. Target acquisition was tough. Then the last one we saw was running along a fence line about 75+ yds away, she and I are on the same pig and I'm on him, he squeezes under the fence and is gone into the woods. I didn't know pigs could run that fast
. I went looking and didn't see or hear anything. If I had to guess I was shooting over them as most likely I may not have had the front sight in the peep hole. Hard in the dark, even with a light. I need to say I knew the area behind the pigs was safe, slightly downhill towards a creek. I got about 7 shots off and I woke up everybody in the house except my 12 year daughter. The shooting probably lasted all of 10 - 15 seconds but I still laugh about it.
It was funny hearing my sister recount the story, mainly city girl from the east coast. She wakes up to gun fire, disoriented since she is not in her own bed, trying to figure out where she is and what's gong on, realizes it's ok she is in TX. Oh and it's probably my brother
One of the perps that was eaten.

Huntin' hogs at night is one of my favorite things to do. There's something great about being alone in the middle of nowhere making my way through the Texas brush at night that just makes me feel like home.![]()
I saw texas pigs and thought of this in an instant...
