And for the record, fainting goats apparently make hilariously fantastic pets.

Oh come on now byte, you know as well as I do, most people on here just bitch to bitch and don't know what the hell they want other than they want it their way. More government is definately bad, less government is good, unless it is bad, then it is bad too if it isn't to their liking.

What? You mean America isn't like Burger King? I can't have it my way?

No, it's more like taco bell, you get what you get and usually end up with a sour tummy and the shits....

I tend to trust food out of my backyard or a local farm more than food from a giant slaughter/processing facility. Just sayin....

Yes I have thought about this very thing for my family, but how long do you think they would last after SHTF?

That I'm not entirely sure of. I would imagine that you could string it out for a decent amount of time if you wanted. my sister in law has had the same chickens for about 5 years now. They don't lay as much as they used to but she still gets a few eggs out of them a day.

Once they stop laying eggs then you have chicken for dinner that night.

I was wondering how long it would take for your neighbors in Denver to get to them and eat them.

If SHTF and you think your neighbors in Denver will steal them, bring them inside. You're wife won't like it but you'll have more urgent things to worry about than some chickens wrecking your carpet.
