    Default 380, dare I ask ;)

I would like to get stated in shooting events, mainly to build my skillset for a defensive CCW standpoint (shooting under stress, on the move, shoot/don’t shoot scenarios, etc…). IDPA sounds like the best option but currently I only have a .380. Is there somewhere that I could get involved since my equipment doesn’t meet the requirements for IDPA?

Call the ranges in your area and ask if they have anything you could participate in. I've seen at least one IPSC competition where people were allowed to run not-for-score when their gear didn't meet the rules but they still wanted the experience.

And of course if your local club puts on their own non-affiliated shoots, the rules and gear criteria will be whatever the organizer decides, and whatever you can negotiate with them. I bet Hershell at Front Range Gun Club in Loveland would let you run with a 380.
    No true Scotsman.

Boulder Rifle Club runs a Friday night match that is all indoors. That is all paper, so .380 shouldn't matter.

I run Defensive Pistol at Boulder Rifle club on the third Saturday. We allow .380 as our minimum scorable caliber. We will be shooting a 3 gun match in June and July, but will have a least one , pistol only stage for year end score. Your first go around is free, as well.

PM me for more info....Good luck!

I had an excellent time checking out the Boulder Rifle Club 3 gun match last Saturday. If you haven't attended one of their events you need to. An excellent group with excellent attitudes; I didn’t meet anyone that was there for any reason other than to be safe and have fun.

The safety rules are strict (as they should be) but the equipment rules are a little more lax. More of a “bring what you have until you can get what you need” verses measuring your belt to make sure you qualify.

That would suck. However I have never come across a match like that.

Glad you had a good time.

The Boulder gang puts on a solid match.
