Default Noticed something in the Trading Post

I'll first say sorry to the mods, I know the trading post is probably the biggest pain on the board.

I'll also add that I don't question either of these sellers integrity.

I more just wanted to bring somethings to light that I've seen several times, and is frustrating as a buyer.

These are the two instances that happened to me: (both I was trying to buy an item)
One instance where I lost out to an Edit within a post that was earlier in the thread. I didn't notice it when I started writing my "I'll take it" but I was on my phone so it took some time to write it.

The other I was the only "I'll take it" or even "PM" in the thread and the thread still hasn't been marked SPF, pending, or anything. But when I PM-ed I was told he already had several offers and a guy on the way with cash. To the sellers credit he did say "Shoot Me A Pm Or Drop A Thread", so I understand the lack of other responses but as a courtesy adding a "SPF" or something is nice.

    From the Trading post rules.
xi. When your item(s) have sold or become otherwise unavailable, update the thread.
Both these items were price very nicely and items that usually sell quick.

Much more of a heads up than anything, like I said I don't question the sellers honesty or anything, but a little courtesy on both ends would be nice.

    Anyone else notice this?

It's possible the seller was unable to get to their thread to edit it in the meantime. I'll post in the morning, then go to work and won't be back for 10 hours...

I received a pm back within 4 minutes, although I do understand that.

Not my complaint, just looking for some courtesy in the sales

A lot of us do not post the fact that we PMed or Emailed an "I'll take it". I have lost out on lots of deals and so have just about everyone here.
And there are some members here that practically live 24-7 on this board snatching up everything they want. Just be happy for their leavings for the rest of us to fight over.

Updating ads or replying to them on my phone is a pain in the butt. Often when I get a PM from someone wanting to purchase something from me I just shoot them a quick message to call me with my name and number. Perhaps we make a deal and agree to meet in a couple of hours somewhere. Since I often can't update my thread on my phone, I might just head off to sell the item and update the post when I get home to the computer. So there could be several hours, maybe even a full day, before I update my add to reflect the item is sold. Also, it is not uncommon for me to have no replies to an ad in the thread itself but have many people making offers through PM.

I feel your pain, but in my opinion if I am buying a magazine or a buffer spring or any other small accessory I will "usually" post a "PM incoming" or "PM sent" but to be quite frank with you if I am thinking of buying a a firearm, its really not anyone else's business besides mine and the sellers if or what I am buying. I personally dont want the whole world(or who ever wants to look at this site) to know if I am buying a firearm. No I was not the one who bought the .45 you are referring to above, at that price you couldnt expect it to be there very long though.

No with all of that being said, its more than a courtesy to update your thread, it is a site requirement, as you quoted above. As is having your location in your profile and reading and acknowledging the site rules. Another one that gets me is when someone goes in the feed back forum and starts a new thread without looking to see if there is an existing one. Its not just new members that dont follow this site rule, its members that have been around for a while also. Just about every day this is done, its not a big deal for us to move it, its the point that someone doesnt read the rules or respect them.

I have been guilty of this but it wasn't really my fault. A couple of our members have screen names that don't respond to the search function very well. Either there are not enough characters to search, or they have weird symbols in their name or something. I always try to search first but ocassionally I just don't find their feedback.

    My apologies.

I will say the search function has a little to be desired sometimes.

If someone wants to find someone who has a name that wont come up in the standard search, when you are in the feed back forum(or any forum) and over to the left near the "New Thread" button just under that is a "Thread" tab, click on that and all the members that have a thread will be in alpha numeric order, so you can just click through and see if there is a thread already.
