Not having any real experience in that area, however, I can only speculate. I used to carry a Glock 27 when hiking or backpacking, and at the time I loaded it with Buffalo Bore 180 grain fmjs. These days, I carry a Ruger sp101 loaded with Buffalo Bore 180 grain hard cast rounds, and those suckers definitely penetrate.
