I've seen/heard people use the "Its a free country" bullshit as an excuse for doing things that are generally unacceptable for as long as I can remember. Society has a number of unwritten "codes" that reasonable people generally follow... this is called being RESPECTFUL. Basic things like don't cut in front of people in lines, dress nicely for Church, give pregnant woman and elderly your seat if no others are available nearby, etc. Too many people don't do these things, because they weren't taught respect and discipline as a child, and when I see people doing things like that and/or using the copout "Its a free country," I get the impression that they're disrespectful pricks.

This has been pretty interesting as a group experiment on views. Like others have said, a bit narrow to generalize someone, but it does show that even thought we may be dominantly conservative, there are some areas that border on gray.

The one particular question that threw me was the one on the Govt controlling unemployment. I kind of misread it. I was thinking the Govt affecting unemployment. But the question reads, govt controlling. We all know how well things go when the govt controls them. Anyways, that one threw me for 15% liberal.

    70% conservative 30% liberal

Most of those questions were bullshit. But I think the 70/30 split is about right. Not so sure on the individuals.

You have to take it issue by issue, in my opinion. I support the fiscal austerity that the GOP talks about... but not what they actually have done. I support (some) of what the Dems talk about in terms of social issues... but mostly because there they happen to align with a libertarian viewpoint. None of that is going to come across in a poll like this.

Neither party does a very good job of representing my will, and they both do a piss poor job of managing the country, and have done so for far longer than I've been able to vote.

Fiscally and Defensively I agree 100% on, but ethically I'm really not so sure the questions produced a fair assessment.
I got the same thing. I think the "corporations responsibility" question swayed my results for personal responsibility, but I think it mostly comes down to: I don't care what you do, if it doesn't affect me at all.
