The guy in the truck was being a dick. With that said, I have a real problem with people riding their bicycles on narrow mountain roads that have no shoulders. That shouldn't be allowed. Just my .02

On a side note, I saw a bike vs motorcycle accident come through the ER one day. The bike rider apparently was fine and got on his bike and rode away. He only bounced off the windshield of the bike. The motorcycle riders (wife husband single bike) got the worst of it. They bounced off the side of the mountain a little. Broken pelvis and other issues.

Wonder what the banter would be if those were motorbikes?

OK, please explain this to me. Why shouldn't it be allowed?
Because its dangerous to be balancing on two 1" wide contact patches on the ground going 20-30 mph next to a hundreds-of-feet long drop? Or because its annoying to have to go around them.

If the former... why outlaw stupid? They choose to ride next to a cliff, I have no sympathy when they fall down the cliff. Outlaw stupid, and you just get more of it... they breed too, ya know. Let stupid be stupid, and eventually the problem just goes away.
If the latter... just make it painfully clear that if they want to be considered a motor vehicle and share the road with things that have engines, they have to abide by the SAME rules that cars and real bikes do. They'll think twice about it.

Just to preface this, I ride a bike. I don't ride it where there is not room to ride without obstructing traffic.

Roads are built for the purpose of transportation, and are built with taxes paid on vehicle registrations and fuel. Cyclists don't pay any of these fees. They are not required to have a license, and they do not follow traffic laws. They use the road for recreation at everyone's risk. I can't set up a hockey goal or a basketball hoop in the middle of the highway and expect to be safe and protected by law. Other than cycling, recreation on the highway is not permitted.

I understand cycling for transportation. Please try to operate whatever vehicle you have chosen in a way that will not get you killed. Cars>bikes.

Isn't this the truth, natural selection should be evenly applied.

Wow really? A dedicated bike path is a path only for bikes, usually a section of road that is next to the curb. Is it really that hard to figure that out?

And since I'm being nice tonight here is a picture of one for you to see.

I ride road bikes, I ride on mountain roads etc.

The guy in the truck was rude but not a danger.

I've had people buzz me in cars/trucks and motorcycles (of all things) when there was plenty of road to my left and I'm hugging the white line and no cars coming the other way. Not many times but enough for me to consider bringing my J frame along on rides.

I stop at lights etc, I will loose every time if a car hits me.

I admit, if I'm climbing a difficult grade I may wander off the white line when I'm working hard. A simple hit of the horn brings me in line.

If I see a group riding 3-4 wide etc I say something to them if I can. They get drivers pissed and they take it out on me.
