And there it is, finally, we understand. So you are implying that the level of a mans success and intelligence is based upon his social and economic status. He's rich, so we should all consider him a success huh? He's a good looking guy who has acting talent, THAT made him a success - not the public school system.

By this measure of a mans success, I'm then quite the enigma. I drive a $100K Mercedes, so I MUST be smart and successful. My two graduate degrees didn't make me successful or intelligent, my car does. The fact that I know the difference between when to use "there" and "their" is the result of a private education, not public. However, I am not in the public eye nor do I make a million dollars a day, so I am not AS successful as Matt Dufus. I would argue that I'm far more successful and that the bank account or public stage does not make the man.

So forget about the two incidents this week where Matt Damon showed that he is dumb as a box of rocks and has absolutely no clue about any issues outside of his little followers circle - he's Ok because he's rich and famous. The public school system didn't fail him so much that he hasn't a clue, it taught him how to act on screen. Got it. When quizzed about why teachers should not be held to account the same as any other job got he same reaction out of Matt Damon as we see in so many uneducated liberals, and that is to blindly attack the person asking the question rather than have to be challenged to support your position logically, intelligently and in an informed way. THAT is always how the uneducated will react to being put into a position to defend their indefensible position.

I know some excellent public school teachers, my wifes mom was one, but that doesn't change the fact that they have no accountability for doing a good job. It's our KIDS we're talking about.

I was yanked from public schools because of how bad they sucked, put into a private school, moved and had to go to public school again for one semester and they wanted to skip me 3 grades because that is the level I was at compared to other kids, my mother wouldn't let them because it would have been too socially awkward to have me that much younger than my classmates. Public schools are shafting kids - sure plenty come out excellent, but those are kids who went beyond what the school did and not the school pushing them to their potential.
This is what you are paying for with public education.

the funniest thing is that in just the short 15 years or so since i was in system, it has changed to this "we don't want to hurt poor timmy's feelings" crap where its literally impossible to fail kids and kids don't get A's and B's anymore in many schools, in stead they get BS PC grades such as meets expectations, exceeds expectations, needs work, blah blah blah. this country is so worried about hurting someone's feelings, its ridiculous. when my brother decided to get his P.E. certification as well on top of his teaching degree, they told him in class he can't play sports that are too phsyical, like dodgeball, or ones where kids pick teams because it can hurt their feelings. they also told him not to do physical tests such as sit ups and push ups because it might hurt someone's feelings if they can't do any. are you kidding me? some of these kids need their feelings hurt so they experience the real world and hopefully take some personal responsibility to better themselves both physical and academically. we live in upside down world, i swear.

Interesting? Made my head explode. Then I posted it on my facebook page and got into a long drawn out 32 reply conversation with a bunch of hippies over it. Currently waiting over a week now for a reply to my last three page typed out in Word reply. I am sure that will make my head explode again. I need to stock up on BP meds.

It was only interesting in that it was an interesting social experiment. Interesting READ, not something I agree with. I like to expand my mind.

This. Its primetime for libtard pussification of our children. One day we will go to war with out enemies armed only with pillows and stuffed animals and they all will laugh at how weak we are... Kids need to have their feelings hurt, their knees skinned, their fat bellies made fun of, it builds character. I'm a product of public school- I was harassed in a similar fashion to Dylan Kelbold and Eric Harris, I was made fun of because I was short and skinny, I got hurt playing football, broke bones playing hockey, and learned the importance of teamwork and self-reliance through team and individual sports. I had great teachers, I had mediocre teachers, and I had terrible teachers (namely one that somehow couldn't teach math and thus I struggle at a college level on that subject today- but learned to teach myself when there is an absence). So to say that everyone who went to public school is moronic and we need to stop paying them as much- I find the flaw and call bullshit. I have had people say I'm among the smartest of my age and social demographic (not trying to toot my own horn, just what I've heard), others say I should run for public office one day because I'm mentally capable of figuring out a solution to so many problems... what do I do instead? I work the family business and strive for my BA in History and get a teaching cert so I can substitute teach part time and maybe, just maybe impart some actual usable knowledge on our next few generations so they don't all come out libtard drones. /rant

The blatant indoctrination of our kids shown in that article are scary to say the least, though it does explain a lot of the conversations I have with people.
