I have family employed with the USSS as well.

I normally like to wait to hear the story how something happened before I start slinging mud and stomping on my soap box of righteous gun safety. The USSS does carry P229 with .357 Sig ammo. The handgun involved is winging it's way back to the armorers in Beltsville, MD, as I type this. The weapon will be inspected and stripped to the frame. If there is a problem with the gun, that will be found. Most accidents of this nature are not caused by the gun, they are caused by the agent.

I don't know what caused this gun to discharge, but I will state that it has become one of my practices to place my thumb on the hammer while holstering to ensure there is no hammer movement. On at least one occasion, the holster or a piece of clothing or belt has pressed on the trigger while the weapon is seated in the holster. If this is the cause of the discharge, the USSS will still consider it a shooter induced failure.

I am looking forward to hearing more about this incident as I carry a P229.

Knowledge is power, use it wisely.

    Default Other Sig problems

Beside shooting yourself in the ass, these firearms could blow up in your face. See link below...

You would think they would use USA manufactured weapons. Maybe we should make Air Force One an Airbus Industries plane too. No wonder one in ten Americans is unemployed...

For arguements sake, Im gonna call BS on this theory and blame the SS Agent for having his finger on the trigger and when his finger was caught on the holster as it was inserted, the pressure forced the trigger to be depressed and fired right into his leg.

Guns dont just go off by themselves fualty or not. Its 99.9999% of the time the person making a mistake related to safety and or trigger dicipline saefty violation.

I don't even know if he'll be allowed to guard the President's dog after this. Maybe he can guard former President Clinton's dog . . . or at least carry the pooper scooper device while a more qualified Agent guards him.

Poor guy I hope he's ok. I don't think this a cause to ban all guns though. But look at the source. Huffingtonpost is one of the leg ticklers for the left wing propaganda machine.
