OH and by the way.... when our country really hit the shitter last who was on the list of presidents then:
    Taft
    Wilson
    Harding
    Coolidge
    Hoover

Not a lick of military service in the bunch and they either initiated the policies or presided over the Great Depression.

Look at the last 3 ass holes... (really could be last 5 but don't want to start that fight)

Okay so we could go 6 back.... and really does Navy Reserve count? At least JC appears to be and have been a really good and decent Christian man. Maybe not a great president but maybe a good man

I like the subtle implication that you can't be good or decent without being Christian.

Not true at all. A lot of my wife's family is bubbhist and they are some of the most decent, good people I know. Even a MOH winner in there (and no my wife doesn't cruse the forum)

Yeah I shouldn't post in the morning before my second cup of coffee. I was recently discussing this with someone else, who basically felt that you couldn't be moral without some religious belief (not even Christian, though that's what he was)

    Cheers

You often accuse conservatives here of seeing things that aren't there ... I think you're doing that now.

One can be decent without being Christian just like one can be a pizza without being pepperoni, but the OP was asking for a specific kind of "decent man" (just like one ordering a pepperoni pizza is not a claim that all pizzas must be pepperoni).

I hope that made sense ('cause now I'm all hungry and lunch is a good hour and a half away).

Why are Harding and Coolidge on that list?

They both presided over policies that created the roaring 20s which set the standard for peacetime prosperity not matched until the 80s (and repudiated the progressive policies of both Wilson before them and Hoover after them).

Harding was a mixed bag president (most historians rank him as one of the worst presidents) I don't think I would say that. He did preside over some major scandals: Teapot dome http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teapot_Dome_scandal

As well as his appointment of fund raisers and political supporters that used the national government (especially the Veteran's Bureau) as there personal ATM

Coolidge Did a pretty good job and actually worked to build the middle class and restore the public's faith in the Presidency after the scandals of the Harding administration. I unfortunately dropped him in there because he was in the time line a was not a vet. Not his fault he was the good one in the string of bad and mediocre (at best)
