Especially when every for sale thread looks the same.
    Dumbass idea.

I vote we change the name of this thread to...................The Girly Vagina Whimpering Thread.

Everone is crying about the very best local classified section on the internet. I have got a lot of great deals, met a lot of good dudes and even made a few friends. Just saying..........

    example
i have this bushmaster , im not really sure what its worth or what ill take so just send me an offer
my next offer to an add like that is gonna be this
jennings ja9 used in 2 drive by's , run over once , then left in my fisshin box in fla for a few years , never cleand it but im sure it works great ,but your gonna have to kick down 50 bucks on top of that bushmaster and drive to me.

(i in no way own a firearm like that, but ill find you one if you will give me 50 bucks and a bushmaster )

i dont know why having a price is so hard . just slap a price on a thing and give yourself room to wiggle trade or not . ever had to toss in ammo or extras or ask for any to even out a dollar amount in your head even though its a trade ? hell thats a third of my table right there , all the extras .

Have you ever been a mod on a website before? I have, and on a website with much worse classified thread problems than this one. Set up a template and all these problems will disappear for the most part.

I stand corrected. I didn't know I was in the presence of such vast experience.

It's still a dumbass idea and would make it boring as hell.

I think that most of the problems with the classifieds here are not really problems. They are pet peeves. There will always be the new guy that screws it up but I just have some fun with them and take it for what it is.

I use the classifieds as much or more than anyone here. And again I will say, I have mede a ton of great deals, met some really good dudes and have made some friends. What else can a guy expect from a classified section?????

Should go it the pet peeves section. And if there was a template, we would find something else to bitch about.

I agree that most of this thread is peeves, but there are some true issues too. unfortunately, most of the problems seem to be from posters with a count below 20 over the last couple of weeks. There also seems to be a greater than average amour of newbies posting in the sales threads lately too. I haven't done any stats on the impression, but based on a lot of other posters in this thread, the trend is obvious enough that most of the hardcores are seeing it too.

How long will the sales threads be considered quality if they continue down a road of obscure posts, not following the basics, disregard for people posting and pming for info without any responses... Ya, it requires people read and heed some basic rules and many currently are not, a huge chunk are newbies just coming on here to sell and bolt. I've bought and sold guns from newbies and lurkers with low counts, but I'm damn careful doing it. No track record or social ties means there is nothing to base reliability on. Ya, I even do BOS with them (don't take this thread there...). Point is, quality is a sign of good standards. Let the standards go, and we will become CO gunbroker. I don't think any of us want that.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.

It's absolutely more of a pet peeves issue than anything else, but if people are serious about reducing the noob posts with insufficient info, than a template is the way to do it. That gives people a good idea of what kind of info they should put into their ad. Just like having a template for writing a letter.

Actually, this is the one point in your rant I have to disagree with.

Lots of folks have asked us to NOT delete thread so that others can use the threads to get an idea of current market prices for similar items. Our solution is that we ask the OP to either close the thread and (or at least) post in the thread that the item has SOLD, TRADED, or been WITHDRAWN. If the OP does this as an edit to the OP as the first item it makes it easy for the mods to come in and close the thread with an update to the title indicating it's status. After 60 days, the thread will be archived.

Doing things this way is a happy medium for everyone. The only issue is when folks DON'T update their threads to indicate the item is no longer available so the mods don't know to go in and close & edit it.

This is also the case with the "SPF" updated threads. What? After 3 days are we to assume that the item is gone? If the tread can be updaged to idicate SPF, the OP can also come in to update that the item is sold, traded, etc.
