Default Yet another WTF is wrong with people thread

I realize this might get me flamed or start some heated debate, but this one really fired me up.

To summarize. Couple is awarded 4.5 million because Dr didn't tell them their son would be born with no arms and only one leg. Had they known they would have aborted him and ended his life.

As a parent of a healthy 7 yr old girl, I can't say I'll ever understand what it's like to raise a child with a disability. That said how does anyone look at his or her child, in whatever form god gave it to them, and wish they had ended their life before they were ever born.

Ya know, there is nothing requiring them to keep the child ... they could always put him up for adoption, so I fail to see where they deserve any money.

As a couple that tried and was unable to have children, people like this disgust me and anger my wife to the point where she would probably throttle them were they standing in front of her.

I could possibly understand the wanting to abort a child with a major disability prior to its life, but I could not look at my child and wish that I killed it prior to its birth.

He's gonna have a good life.

Discounting little annoying physical fetures/problems (flat feet, sleep apnea, allergies, daughter has has constant migraines most of her life), both of my children were born relatively healthy. So, I can't fathom the anguish parents of children with serious deformities or other issues go through.

That said, I couldn't imagine thinking, after they were born, that I should have aborted either of my kids. I love them unconditionally and only want the best for them. Sometimes they don't live up to what *I* want for them and I feel disappointed - mostly in me thinking that maybe I failed them somewhere. In the end though I know they're good kids and they have to live their lives the way they want to - regardless of what challenges they have to face.

This boy with no arms and only 1 leg will face MANY challenges in his life, but nothing that he can't overcome with parents who will be there to support, encourage and love him. Sadly, I don't think this child has such parents. It's heartbreaking.

I'm sure glad these people were not the parents of Stephen Hawking.

As horrible of people as they are, they didn't do anything illegal, and the doctor is obligated to tell them a detail such as that.

I feel like they're entitled to the money, and should use it to adopt the child to a loving family and then buy a private jet and crash it into the side of a cliff.

Lawsuits like this always crack me up.

There was another one that had to do with some experimental genetics where the parents weren't happy with the outcome (children).

"Where did we get all this money Mommy?"

"Well, Mommy was so very disappointed in you, that she felt the need to sue in the court of law for monetary compensation."

"So the size of our house is directly related to your level of disappointment in me?"

"Yes, exactly sweety. Now go to your rooms."

Damn, Byte. I think I'm having an allergic reaction to something... I've got this uncomfortable lump in my throat.

That's a really profound and touching picture sequence.

sometimes I think some people are missing a gene or a chromosome er something that allows them to feel for their children.

Little Byte is everything. I wont lie.. I Cried and begged for his life for 3 weeks.
They shipped a pediatrician from Cairo to Kuwait for him. The First Doc asked me what I wanted to do WHEN he loses the fight. The second Doc told me it was still a possibility.

Little Byte had a full blood transfusion everyday for two weeks.

So, when I hear about people playing farmville while their child drowns in the tub, or they shake their child to death, beat them (not talking about a spanking), Burn them or neglect them I don't understand.

I get that its hard... I understand that. Little Byte tries my Buttons ALLOT some days. The little guys/Girls need us to protect them, love them and be patient while they learn the world around them. It's our duty to guide them, Love them, protect them and teach them.
If we cannot do that the solution is simple.

Give them to someone that can, someone that will.
