I haven't seen any reliable source on them buying MRAPs.
As for the ammo, it's a 5 year contract. Would you rather they are totally unfamiliar with their weapons and get no training with them?
If I'm fighting with an entity, I would prefer they not be trained with their weapons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a serious aspect;
A Civil war in the US would be more devastating than anything, I truly do not believe the military and the law enforcement communities would follow a100% blindly orders from the gobermint that would cause harm to general US civilians. I believe the US would be torn in half, states separating etc.
The Empire and the rebellion, there was a movie inthe 80's about that and I remember what was funny is California was the "Free" State and the the coppertop man was a old race care driver racing to Cali......................I am I that old?

I doubt very seriously the military would function; the majority of enlisted come from families that would rebel.
However, the socialists know what would happen if they are successful; and I am sure they are preparing for it.
