At least you ain't got skeeters. I lived near a swamp back East for a while, and during skeeter season just walking from the car to the house you'd get bit at least 3 times. The ignored citronella and DEET too.
I got an E-mail last weak, If you put a dryer softner sheet in you pocket when your out side it keep the skeeters away. You can Google it.
The pesticides will kill the aquatic life for sure. Try the permethrin products that you can trat your clothing with that lasts for several "worshings."
we have skeeters here it is the other bugs creep me out.......
