At least tonight's storm did not last as long as last night. I used to enjoy storm season before owning a roof.

It's creepy watching TV and when they zoomed in pretty good on the smaller storm, it's centered right over my house. Damn...

I just looked at the radar and it's about 4 miles N-NW from my house. Looks like my truck might get hammered by some hail!

tonight - ouch - and crass - oh ship

My old Plymouth - one windshield broken -
My less old Saturn Vue - one windshield broken
My living room - 1.5" ice ball that worked it's way thru the sky light.

No idea what the additional damage - but figured the roof took a good beating.

Tomorrow I will get out the duc tape and heavy plastic and cover the old skylight - I guess my toy buying spree has stopped dead in it's tracks. I wonder what a good skylight costs . . .

At least I was not out walking like I was doing during the last hair storm - then I only got hit with 3/4" hail that was "soft".

We are directly East from the South end of the runway. We got nothing last night and it just brushed past us a few minutes ago. A few pea sized hail and a little rain - that was it. It's amazing how localized these storms are. PAFB got hammered last night and tonight. We are only six miles South from the East gate and we got nothing.

That first storm cell just appeared from nowhere right over my house last night. Sat there for a while before moving on to the east.

A couple of Co-workers got nailed. Broken windshields, big dents.

I was gone for this one. That is why I ALWAYS park in the garage at DIA. I don't want to come home to my truck looking like Swiss cheese.

Found my yard torn to hell when I got home. Trees, flowers, plants got hit hard. Last time we got hit this hard was in 2009 (that time was worse for us) and I had to go collect all the injured birds that the hail took out. My wife's car was brand new at the time, parked outside and my Dad and I went outside in our motorcycle helmets trying to cover the car with blankets and camping pads. We saved most of it but one or two of the 2" sized hail produced some dents, she was pissed.

No car damage this time. Haven't checked the roof yet but if the amount of roof material below my downspouts is any indication, we might need a new one. I suppose if your cup's half full, that's the good thing about the hail in Colorado...you should never have to replace a roof that reached old age. You're almost guaranteed that your insurance will be buying you a new roof every 5-6 years due to hail damage.

PS - Aurora Gun Club is toast. 100% flooded and looks like the high water was 12" deep. All the berms are under water. It is going to take a lot of cleanup to get it open again. Damn. That will teach me to put off sighting in for prairie dog opening...
