Ford actually took 16 billion in government money back then. They just did it in a manner that was less public such as having the money go to the financial department instead of the company proper.

It was a loan to ford credit to be able to finance more potential xustomers, the government never owned a part of ford through these loans, i bet a huge amount of american companies have taken a loan from uncle sam, would doubt the other 2 automakers have taken a loan before their bailout. Anyway I say Ridges and 00tec are pretty good estimates.
