Replace it with the free market.

Airlines will provide their own security and it is in their best interest to be as safe as possible. Less regulations and everybody wins. More regulations and only the corportatist government wins, every private citizen loses.

That was the system on September 11, 2001.

You really think the TSA would have prevented the events of 9/11?

The free market would have adjusted and increased their security. As I said, in a true free market, it is in the best interest of every airline to provide the best, fastest, safest service. If an airline is unsafe or has terrible private security, people would be less inclined to do their traveling with them. If an airline had the best security and safety in the industry, people would probably be more interested in doing business with them. Airlines with bad safety records and cruddy security would either be pressured by the market to raise their standards, or be forced out of business.

All of this should be privatized, not run by another government organization with unlimited reach and power. The TSA started out just operating metal detectors in airports, now they have street checkpoints and crazy oversight on things in your personal life, including blatantly violating the 4th amendment.
