The most severe storms in Colorado are from the east!
I think this is because for most of North America, we usually have wind out of the west, all other things being equal (jet stream and all that) so by facing the door east, you get the least wind through your shelter.

It also lets the sun into your shelter during the coldest part of the day to warm you.

    13 correct out of 25......doh!
My determination to not strike the first blow, but also to not stand mute and allow myself, and all that I believe in and stand for, to be trampled by men who would deprive me of my God-given, or natural right to suit my own end.

    21/25

I disagree with the fire method. Lighters malfunction; sparking tools don't...it said any condition.

I had no clue on the shelter opening. In Colorado, I usually go south depending on terrain and storm direction.

I better not get bit by snakes.

Edit: Two lucky answers...I have no clue on basswood and buttercup. If I had to start a friction fire, I would be screwed. I always have a magnesium fire starter with me.

    Q. Which type of items would be the most valuable to have in a Bug Out Bag?
    A. Definitely tools. I can build any shelter if I have the tools I need.
This is what I keep in my car; I have a tarp and tools.

I take issue with this one:
    Q. If you are bitten on the ankle by a rattlesnake, what's the best course of action?
    A. Torniquet and keep your heart rate down. Applying pressure to the wound will not keep the venom from spreading.
So, I guess I won't die a horrible death if bitten by a snake?

Lighters run out of fuel and don't work if its rainy or windy. Flint and Steel will always work.

Honestly, if you are trying to start a friction fire, you should have planned better. Swedish firesteel, flint and steel, even a lighter....

Anyway, everyone likes quizzes I guess...

Totally New England Boy Scout questions. I had a lot of the same problems with the questions. My grandfather in Montana who is also a Dr told me to never rely on a lighter in the field, always find water first, and tools and your brain are your most important survival tools.

Your grandfather is right. You can fix all these situations with the right tool.

I agree with the most of you. The way the questions were worded and some of the answers left ya to wonder. For those that got 100%, there was definately some good guessing going on because there simply were not cut and dry answers to several questions.
    I scored 16 of 25.
