Hell I seem to recall being all but ACCTUALLY locked out of the house to play outside.
Just be home before the streetlights came on was the rule in my house as a kid.
being inside was for saturday morning cartoons and homework.. other then that get yer ass outside and PLAY.

Ditto. I was out of the house and finding a dirt pile to play in, riding my bike for miles, building tree-houses and rolling in poison ivy all weekend. They couldn't have kept me in the house if they had tried.
Maybe they would prefer kids stayed inside playing video games and eating cheesy poofs.
