Dang you guys. I have been planning (dreaming about) my next gun purchase for the last year, as I save up some cash. But now you hooligans are going to be asking $10k for all the good stuff in the trading post.

I missed the debate. Is pushing for a new Congressionally passed law (the Constitutional way), or did he enact another Executive Order?

They both really suggested enforcing existing laws, but also restricting assault weapons. Didn't say how. I'll be optimistic and assume the congressional way.

    Yup.

I don't think an (R) House will open a new AWB. I think if The Failure wants an AWB he'll have to go the EO route.

This is why it is important that conservatives win more seats in the House and Senate, so stuff like AWB does not get started and so we can get EOs repealed.

I only see two problems with this:

    1) The GOP is not conservative
    2) The GOP in the House have not done anything other than bicker for the past 2 years. I hate to use the word, but they HAVE been obstructive. While it's not necessarily bad, they have used their time there to swear to slow down or stop everything Obama does. Whether it be good or bad. They've put more effort into stopping anything Obama supports than actually trying to fix the problems they were elected to work on.

disclosure: I didn't watch the terds being pinched (debate) last night, but it would seem from the quotes I read this morning- if they both were elected it would be a dead heat race to eschew any/all portions of the constitution, and the 2A is on deck early.

I hear the second stanza of the funeral dirge for America right now.

    1) I agree, people like me make the GOP more conservative but the GOP is still a socialist organ right now.
    2) I don't mind the obstruction and that obstruction is a 2 way street. Remember that Harry Reid wouldn't even bring the Ryan budget up for any kind of vote in the Senate.

Well I actually know of one vote he lost last night....my brothers. He went to school in Boulder and has been living there for years. They converted him to be an Obama zombie on almost all issues except gun rights, since he still loves to hunt and shoot. Sent him a nice text during the debate last night and welcomed him to the party. I can only hope there are more like him.

One thing that has been overlooked as far as a potential ban would go:
In D.C. v Heller the Scotus clearly stated " a ban on a "class" of firearm violates the Second Amendment. The total ban of handgun possession amounts to a prohibition on an entire class of "arms" that Americans overwhelmingly choose for the lawful purpose of self defense. (handgun is used here in context as that is what was at the heart of the Heller case)
Now if one applies this logic:
What is the overwhelming choice of rifle (if you go by sales numbers) recently?
    The AR platform.
Heller really makes it difficult to LAWFULLY ban a "class" of firearm.
